Europe’s largest oddsmakers lengthened the odds on Mitt Romney becoming President of the United States following the release of a video showing him telling an audience that 47 percent of all Americans “believe they are victims.”

The former governor of Massachusetts has seen his odds of winning the November 6 election slip from 2-1 to 5-2 while Barack Obama’s odds of remaining in the Oval office have improved significantly in the past 24 hours moving from 4-11 to 2-7.

“Mitt Romney’s comments have tipped the balance further in Barack Obama’s favour,” a spokesperson for Paddy Power said. “It’s not over yet but he’s certainly facing an uphill struggle to evict Obama from the White House.”
