Area residents, organizations, and businesses are encouraged to join city crews in picking up trash and litter on and around Lake Tuscaloosa. Participants will be provided with collection bags, t-shirts and refreshments available at Binion Creek Boat Landing & Rock Quarry Boat Landing where volunteers will be on site to assist citizens with disposing of the collected debris from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m.

City recycling trailers will also be at Binion Creek Boat Landing and Rock Quarry Boat Landing to accept common recyclables such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans that are collected at the clean-up. There will also be barges available to drop off collected debris with identifying banners on them located on Lake Tuscaloosa near Hwy. 69 bridge and the mouth of Carrolls Creek.

Although our focus will be on the litter affecting Lake Tuscaloosa there will also be identified containers at both Lake Nicol and Harris Lake Boat Landings. Our lakes are some of Tuscaloosa’s most rare and precious resources. Please help keep them beautiful by donating your time, Saturday, June 6th at the 2009 Clean Our Lakes Day.
