The Lake Chinnabee Campground, closed? In leaf season? Why? [click on the images for a large view]: Glynn Wilson
The Lake Chinnabee Campground and Recreation Area, closed by order of Forest Supervisor Steve Lohr. This is a photo essay from November 2, 2013, with two weeks to go for peak fall color in the Talladega National Forest. On the ride and hike in, an idea occurred to me. Someone needs to start a support group for Friends of Lake Chinnabee to help convince the Forest Service not to permanently close the campground and recreation area. It should be open right now, during the height of leaf season in the Appalachians. See this story, and check back soon for an update in the next few days.
