The First Female Grosbeak of the Spring Bird Migration of 2011

The first female rose-breasted grosbeak [pheucticus ludovicianus] of the spring bird migration showed up on the birdbath today, which means the males can’t be far behind. The temperature topped 80 in on the screened-in porch in Wilsonville this afternoon.

And a spring American robin turdus migratorius showed up too…

    A couple of cats sneak into the yard now and then…

    But I’ve got them pretty scared away with the Daisy BB gun : )
