The Alabama Rivers Alliance is holding the first River Revival at King’s Bend on the bank of the Locust Fork River from 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, October 22.
It is a fundraiser for the Alabama Rivers Alliance and a celebration of the group’s commitment to river advocacy with music, food and fellowship. Proceeds go to support the work of the Alliance. Barbeque and gardenburgers with slaw and beans and fountain drinks will be for sale, or you can bring your own.
Todd Coder and Greg Staggs will perform, along with The Blue Mules, Authentic Bluegrass, Ryan Kinder, Sarah Green and Friends Eric Essix, the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra and Taylor Hicks band.
Speakers will include Doug Phillips of Discovering Alabama, Sam Howell of the Friends of the Locust Fork River, Adam Snyder of the Alabama Rivers Alliance and Brenda Cummings, an outdoor columnist.
Tickets are $20 per person in advance, $30 the day of the show, $60 for car full and anyone under 15 can get in free.
Ticket will be available in Birmingham at Deep South Fly Shop, 4704 Cahaba River Road, at all Alabama Outdoors locations, and through the group’s office and Web site.
Directions to the event: From Birmingham, take I-59 North to Tallapoosa Street Exit (Tarrant), continue through Tarrant on AL Hwy 79 North for about 40-45 minutes, through Pinson, Locust Fork and then Cleveland. Just after you pass through Cleveland and head toward Blountsville, you will cross a bridge over the Locust Fork River. Just past that bridge is King’s Bend on your right. There’s a big black sign that says King’s Bend and it has a bright yellow kayak. Just follow the dirt/gravel road through the gate to your right.
From Huntsville, take US 231 South through Blountsville, and look for King’s Bend sign on the left, etc.
