Kendra Sutton may be a major new voice on the music scene from Birmingham, I’ve been told, so this is a shot of her singing along with her band the Bad Luck Boys at Do Dah Day Saturday on Birmingham’s Southside. For a first time seeing and hearing her, I would say she’s a little bit of a cross between Bonnie Raitt of Tennessee and Natalie Maines of Texas, although they say she’s also a fine songwriter and a photographer too.

The bassist for the Los Lonely Boys band was arrested in Austin, Texas Saturday.

He was charged with possession of marijuana and assault.

At least that’s what authorities tell the Associated Press.

Joey “JoJo” Sacarais Garza, 26, was in town with fellow sibling-bandmates getting high before a concert.

Responding to a report of a disturbance at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin, police found Garza and a woman in his room who had been assaulted, police spokeswoman Laura Albrecht said.

Garza was charged with assault causing bodily injury and possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana.

He was released from Travis County Jail hours later.

The San Angelo-based Tex-Mex flavored rock ‘n’ roll group hit the national spotlight in 2004 with their Grammy award-nominated debut album “Los Lonely Boys.”

They were one of the biggest draws at Birmingham’s City Stages this year.
