Conservative Gun Nut Rocker Ted Nugent Threatens Obama’s Life on NRA News

April 18th, 2012

Right-wing gun nut rocker Ted Nugent said, “I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year” if President Obama is re-elected in November on the National Rifle Association’s so-called news channel.

The Secret Service is now looking into the remarks, according to NPR.

This guy is a total idiot and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Even Mitt Romney distanced himself from the remarks.

A spokeswoman for the Romney campaign issued a statement Tuesday saying that “divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from. Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil.”

Large Majority of Americans Favor the Proposed ‘Buffett Rule’ on Taxes, 60 to 37 Percent

April 13th, 2012

by Glynn Wilson

Sixty percent of Americans say they are all in favor of Congress passing the so-called “Buffett Rule,” proposed by President Barack Obama, to mandate a minimum 30 percent tax rate for Americans with an annual household income of $1 million or more.

Majorities of both Democrats and independents favor the policy, while a majority of Republicans oppose it, according to the latest Gallup poll on the subject.

President Obama has suggested this tax policy in recent public appearances. The U.S. Senate may vote on it next week.

Few political insiders think it has a chance of passing the Republican-controlled House to become law before the end of the year, but there is building public pressure in key swing states.

Obama Builds Biggest Lead Over Republicans To Date in Presidential Race

April 2nd, 2012

The President Now Leads Among Independents and in Key Swing States

by Glynn Wilson

President Barack Obama now holds the biggest lead polls have shown so far over Republicans in the presidential race. He now also leads with independents and in 12 key swing states, making the incumbent president the odds on favorite to win handily in November, barring unforeseen intervening issues.

If asked to choose between them today, 49 percent of U.S. registered voters say they would vote for Barack Obama for president, while 45 percent would choose likely Republican opponent Mitt Romney. While Obama’s advantage is not statistically significant, it is the largest he has had over Romney in Gallup polling to date.

Obama has a larger, significant lead, 51 percent to 43 percent, over Rick Santorum, Romney’s chief rival for the Republican nomination, according to a March 25-26 USA Today/Gallup poll.

In mid-February, when Santorum led as national Republicans’ choice for the nomination, he and Obama were tied, showing a clear slide in support for the Christian Republican former Senator from Pennsylvania.

Obama Administration Outlines Commitment to American Made Energy

March 21st, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Obama highlighted his administration’s focus on a sustained, “all-of-the-above” approach to developing American energy in speeches around the country this week. He talks about doubling renewable electricity generation, increasing oil and gas production on federal lands and waters, and reducing reliance on foreign oil through fuel economy standards which will nearly double the efficiency of vehicles in the U.S. and save families $1.7 trillion at the pump.

As part of the president’s comprehensive strategy for a secure energy future, he is outlining steps to promote the development of necessary infrastructure and accelerate the pace of innovation of clean and cost-effective alternatives to traditional fuels, according to a White House press release.

Fulfilling a commitment the president made in his State of the Union Address and building on a series of recommendations from the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, Mr. Obama will travel to Cushing, Oklahoma to announce a new Executive Order on speeding up the approval process for projects, requiring agencies to make faster permitting and review decisions for “vital infrastructure projects” — while protecting the health and vitality of local communities and the environment.

“The Executive Order will significantly reduce the amount of time it takes the Federal government to make permitting and review decisions for infrastructure projects such as roads and surface transportation, aviation, ports and waterways, water resource projects, renewable energy generation, electricity transmission, broadband, and pipelines,” the administration says.

Republicans Turn Off Women Voters in Droves

March 20th, 2012

Obama Leads Romney by 12 Points Nationally

President Barack Obama leads Republican front-runner Mitt Romney by 20 percent among women, and by 26 percent over Rick Santorum, according to a recent Pew survey.

In the same survey, President Obama’s approval rating stands at 50 percent. He leads Romney in a head-to-head matchup by 12 points, 54 to 42 percent, and he leads Santorum by 18 points, 57 to 39 percent.

Democratic political consultant and strategist Chris Lehane says these numbers make the electoral college math “virtually impossible,” for the Republicans in November.

Plus, Romney and the other Republicans at the national and state level are backing the wrong issues to appeal to women, and in fact, they are turning off women in droves.
