For 30 years I have been reading about and at times writing about the mounting losses of Louisiana wetlands and rising seas due to global warming. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes a video can say more than that.

The Assumption Parish emergency response office, which continuously monitors this sinkhole for burps and seismic activity, recently released this video showing an entire grove of cypress trees being swallowed up by the sinkhole — something that was known to happen but no one had managed to capture on camera.

If you don’t believe there is a such thing as rising seas due to global warming or climate change, or that the oil and gas industry is culpable for destroying wetlands, you might want to watch this.
