Jimmy Buffet Surprises Diners With Appearance at Lulu’s in Gulf Shores

Beach bum crooner and chief Parrothead Jimmy Buffet played a surprise concert Wednesday night at Lulu’s, his sister Lucy’s restaurant in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

He was supposed to play a free benefit show on the beach July 1, but it got postponed because of Hurricane Alex, which has churned up the Gulf and pushed a lot more oil on shore.

It was an Intimate show, according to Debbie Elliott, a correspondent for National Public Radio.

“He ended with ‘when the coast is clear’,” she said on her Facebook page, expressing hope that it will be again, soon.

The beaches are getting hit hard right now as the winds whip BP’s oil northeast in the Gulf of Mexico.
