Obama Hails 'Shared Spirit of Humanity' at Easter
April 3rd, 2010Weekly Address: Holiday Greetings
In this week of Easter, Passover, and faithful celebration, the President offers a holiday greeting and calls on people of all faiths and nonbelievers to remember our shared spirit of humanity. (Compare to the video on the previous post on the rise and fall of the right-wing hate machine)…
According to the Associated Press:
President Barack Obama’s Easter address calls on people of all faiths, as well as nonbelievers, to embrace their common aspirations and “shared spirit of humanity.” Obama used his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday to touch lightly on some of his administration’s priorities: expanding health coverage, creating jobs and improving education. But his comments were more spiritual than political in tone. “On this Easter weekend,” he said, “let us hold fast to those aspirations we hold in common as brothers and sisters, as members of the same family – the family of man.”
