Anger over the health-care overhaul has led to a nearly threefold increase in recent months in the number of serious threats against members of Congress, federal law enforcement officials said. The lawmakers reported 42 threats in the first three months of this year, compared with 15 in last three months of 2009, said Senate Sergeant at Arms Terrance W. Gainer, according to the Washington Post.

My old putt putt golfing buddy, and one of the best guitarists to hail from Alabama, Rick Kurtz had a stroke this morning and is at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, according to his wife Bridgett.

“Cognition is intact, starting to move leg and arm — all good signs,” she says on his Facebook page. “Please send all positive thoughts, prayers, vibes — whatever — for complete and speedy recovery! He’s moving to room 729…”

Yes, they booed President Obama at Nationals Park on Monday. And he deserved it…

He began, after toeing the rubber, by pumping his arms several times without continuing the motion; had a runner been on base, the umpire may well have called a balk. Finally, Obama completed his delivery, using the familiar motion some commentators (certainly not this one) have in the past derided as a “girl toss.” The ball floated, slowly and with great loft, in the general direction of home plate, but — metaphor alert! — wild and far to the left….
