A Pinson, Alabama militia activist is not walking away from taking credit for brick-throwing incidents at Democratic Party offices across the country this weekend when protesters took to the streets against national health care reform passed by the House and signed into law by the president on Tuesday.

In fact, Mike Vanderboegh, 57, who publishes a radical, right-wing blog full of wild racist pro-gun rants against illegal immigrants, President Barack Obama, national health care reform, black gangs and other choice subjects, claims to be written from a “strict constructionist, libertarian point of view.”

But in fact, he’s advocating that local law enforcement officials get ready for “civil war” against the federal government and black people and be willing to allow citizens to take the law into their own hands when the revolution comes.

Vanderboegh seemed to be taking credit for bricks thrown through the window of the Democratic Committee headquarters in Monroe County, N.Y., this past weekend, according to the Montgomery Advertiser and other news reports.

Vanderboegh encouraged his readers on Friday to throw bricks at the windows of Democratic headquarters across the country. Late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, a brick was thrown through the glass doors at the Democratic Committee’s Rochester, N.Y., office.

Attached to the brick was a quote from Barry Goldwater: “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice.”

“I guess that guy’s one of ours,” Vanderboegh said in a telephone interview. “Glad to know people read my blog.”

Here Comes the Sun…

March 23rd, 2010

“Here Comes the Sun” is a song by George Harrison from The Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road.

Sort of says it all about this year, and this day. The sun is finally shining on the US of A, and in Alabamaland…

The song, one of Harrison’s best-known Beatles contributions alongside “Something,” originated from a song-writing collaboration between Harrison and close friend Eric Clapton. The year 1969 was a difficult one for Harrison: he was arrested for marijuana possession, he had his tonsils removed, and he had quit the band temporarily. The song was written while Harrison was away from all of these troubles, according to Wikipedia.

President Celebrates Passage of Historic Health-Care Bill

March 23rd, 2010

A beaming President Barack Obama on Tuesday signed a historic $938 billion health care overhaul that guarantees coverage for 32 million uninsured Americans and will touch nearly every citizen’s life, presiding over the biggest shift in U.S. domestic policy since the 1960s and capping a divisive, yearlong debate that could define the November elections. Celebrating “a new season in America” – the signature accomplishment of his White House so far and one denied to a line of presidents before him – Obama made the massive bill law with an East Room signing ceremony, according to the Associated Press.

U2's Bloody Sunday: Rock 'n' Roll is Inclusive

March 23rd, 2010

Rock ‘n’ Roll is the opposite of racist…

U2′s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” was written for and dedicated to all the Bloody Sunday victims, including John Lewis of Georgia.

Rock ‘n’ Roll was born in the 1950s from the roots of blues, a music invented by African-Americans. So how can any rock musician align themselves with racist Republicans? It makes no sense…

Much of the opposition to national health care reform comes from the remnants of racism still alive and well especially in the American South. Get over it people. Let’s get on with forming a more perfect union…
