If Gilbert & Sullivan were alive today, they would doubtless find this worthy of a comic operetta.

Possible titles come to mind including "The Pirates of Goat Hill."

"He is the very model of a modern attorney general..."

Sadly, even though Alabama politics is more ridiculous than a Gilbert & Sullivan plot, this stuff is actually happening in real life, real time before our eyes.

And it costs each of us a lot more money than a $50 ticket for a night at the opera.

I agree, it's time we the people spoke up...vote and get all of the GOP so-called Christians out of office.
We need the jobs.I say vote yes on the BINGO bill and let the people vote on it in November!
Move this state forward, not backward...we have a final chance, one more time.
I'm also for impeaching Riley now!!!

If King thinks what Riley is doing is wrong and illegal, why doesn't he act?

What I see is that the entire government of the state of Alabama is a complete joke, wasting taxpayer money on this juvenile fight over bingo.

Even the Christian Coalition is against Riley's position.

If Republicans were truly conservative and not just social control freaks and actually believed in freedom and individual liberties, they would let the people who want to gamble do it.

It seems to me any legitimate government would have better things to do. The unemployment rate is approaching 10 percent of the population. Another large percentage have no access to health care. The poor people of the state's Black Belt are being dumped on by TVA, EPA and ADEM. And all the governor, the attorney general and the legislature and the courts concern themselves with is whether people should be allowed to play fucking bingo, electronic or not?

On top of that, the press in this state is the worst in the country, and all the little political insiders in Montgomery turn to anonymous blogs for bad, anonymous non-information.

Alabama is a national joke.

I watched the press conference on television and saw a thoughtful, intelligent presentation of his views. Perhaps a lot of people wanted some level of manly force, but what can one expect with a grand jury that convenes every time King says or does anything? What a brilliant tool to keep the boy under control.
