February 6th, 2010An Unreleased Elvis Song for a Rainy Day
Elvis recorded this song July 11, 1955 at Sun Records but no take was deemed acceptable for release. Drummer Johnny Bernero joined Elvis, Scott Moore, and Bill Black for the session.
On February 24, 1957, Elvis recorded it for RCA at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, and that version was released on the Elvis For Everyone LP. This version is available on The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters. Additional takes are available on Elvis A Legendary Performer Vol. 4; A Golden Celebration, and the Complete Sun Sessions CD.
You know what it takes,
You’ve got it, baby.
You are the only one I chose.
Don’t leave me here with all these heartaches,
Only you and heaven knows
About my troubles, troubles, troubles.
When it rains, it really pours…
You shouldn’t have took away my loving
You know you thrill me from head to toe.
I got a feeling for you baby
And you’re the only one who knows
About my troubles, troubles, troubles.
When it rains, it really pours…
You know what you did to make me love you
You really opened up my nose.
You got what you wanted; now you left me.
That’s the way the story goes.
Well, I got troubles, troubles, troubles.
When it rains, it really pours.
