Y’all are not going to believe this, but between dinner time and 8 p.m., we got another total ground covering of snow Monday night.
The National Weather Service has posted another Winter Storm Advisory for snow on Monday night for the cities of Oneonta, Gasden, Anniston, Centre, Carrollton, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Hoover, Pell City and Moody.
An area of light to moderate snow will move across North Central Alabama this evening. One-quarter to one-half inch of snow accumulation is possible. Temperatures will fall below freezing, so there may be some travel hazards.
On the 2010 Great Backyard Bird Count final day, I was trying to snap some photos of a couple of blue birds coming around to the feeder, but they are so shy. This white-breasted nuthatch [sitta carolinensis] hung around for a good part of the morning, however, so I got some good shots of it to add to the growing collection in our category, Birds of Alabama. Clapton will be performing solo in the U.S. for a headlining tour in a string of concerts to feature vocalist Roger Daltrey of the British rock band Who as the opening act.

Birmingham rock band Earthbound will play an outdoor concert on Sunday, April 18 to raise awareness for Earth Day and raise funds for Black Warrior Riverkeeper, a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization based in Birmingham.
Earthbound’s Earthfest will be free to all ages and take place from 2 p.m. to sundown in Bessie Estelle Park, a picnic and recreation destination within walking distance of UAB and adjacent to event co-sponsor Gable Square Saloon at 803 9th Court South.
