Truth Rock? Hmmm, interesting. True Blues is even better. We could probably create an incredible body of work, meaning of course no matter how we laid it down we wouldn't be able to get anyone to believe us. Then there is the matter of getting gigs and playing out without getting killed by some evangelical, tea party nut case. Looking out at the audience, with people filming our performance, only to notice the guy with the camera is wearing those black, shiny, FBI shoes. Never getting out of site from the stage on breaks, to avoid having some oil company hitman install an IED in the back of my Twin. Doesn't sound particularly healthy, or lucrative, and every time I turned the ignition after loading the gear, wondering if we were just gonna be another flash in the van, followed by a loud explosion. Why the fuck not?
Sounds like it might be a real blast. 256.617.9391

Throughout our nations political history, there have been episodes of greed and corruption, but never in our history was an administration run like a criminal enterprise, with total disregard for our laws and our constitution, until January of 2001. Cabinet members who were a bit too conscientious resigned. Cronies got unbelievable deals. Whistle blowers were silenced. The U.S. Justice Department asserted jurisdiction over hundreds of lawsuits, issued gag orders and parked them indefinitely.

Through a series of Presidential Acts, many of our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms were taken away from us. (It just hasn't started happening in a wholesale fashion yet, but we are so close it scares the hell out of me. The Patriot Act might as well be called Martial Law for Dummies.)

Our foreign policy was simple. Bribe everyone who could be bought. The only reason the surge worked in Iraq was giving the tribal chiefs who controlled 100,000 "insurgents" a payoff of $125 million to not attack American forces. Executive privilege came to mean "we don't have to answer to anyone -- the Congress, the press. or the people."

What is most amazing to me is how few people realize our entire country was hijacked, the treasury was looted, and all just in time to gallop back to Texas, with their saddle bags bulging. There was always an exit strategy, it just had nothing to do with leaving Iraq or Afghanistan. Not as long as there is oil and opium.

I have my doubts anything will come of this, but I don't know how we can just let it go and not investigate what happened.

After writing about it on and on, even prior to the 2004 election, and calling for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney repeatedly, and watching Congress fail to act, I have tried to move on since the 2008 election and give Obama a chance to right things.

But if there is a serious prosecutor who still wants to make the case, let it be. I will cover it, while the local press won't. I just think the people of my home state and city are so caught up in local shenanigans they miss the forest for the trees. Larry Langford didn't cause the financial meltdown. The Bush administration did. And they walked away Scott free. They allowed the rape and plunder of Iraq and our economy and paid no price for it, except a few Saturday Night Live skits. That's not justice.

Where did all the money go that disappeared in Iraq? It doesn't even appear anyone is trying to find out, certainly not the right-wing talking heads on TeeVee and talk radio.
