Secret Vistas: Somewhere On Lake Martin…
October 9th, 2009Somewhere on Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama, on an early fall afternoon. Caught sight of a hawk this morning, not sure what kind, plus a couple of great blue herons in the afternoon. Also got a good look at a fine specimen of the Alabama State Bird, a yellow-shafted flicker, a.k.a. the Alabama Yellow Hammer. Almost got the camera set up in time while it was close enough to shoot, but almost don’t count in wildlife photography — especially when dealing with woodpeckers. A big, dark cloud and a little shower came in just in time to obscure the sunset, so back to the Mickie Dees WiFi Hotspot. Click on the image for a larger view.
