This was just brought to my attention. It wasn't in the blog version of the story that appeared in the Google alert the other day.

This segment was in the <a href="http://www.al.com/news/birminghamnews/statebriefs.ssf?/base/news/1250237741132280.xml&coll=2" rel="nofollow">Birmingham News</a> the other day:
<blockquote>
The sale also has sparked a lawsuit. Edna Fay Johnson Galloway Holcombe sold the Water Works 173 acres in 1993, when the utility was planning to build a drinking water reservoir there.

Holcombe's suit, filed in Blount County Circuit Court, says landowners were pressured into selling by the threat their land would be taken through eminent domain, and they eventually agreed to sell after being promised use of the land until a dam was built.

Holcombe is asking for an opportunity to repurchase her land or be guaranteed the right to continue use of it.

If those options are denied and a sale is made, she is seeking $1.7 million in damages.

"We are aware of the lawsuit and we are evaluating the board's options in regards to the lawsuit," Parnell said.

When a customer receives a PAPER letter and bill from the
BBWB each month, it is obvious there is WASTE of resources and excessive COSTS to the customer!

Even with automatic EFT, I receive a paper bill. No e-billing from the BWWB!

Listen to the BWWB stupid ads to "drink more water. Another WASTE of resources.

There is more going on at BWWB than maintaining a quality water supply.

BWWB? Don't expect good and wise decision-making. There is just "something in the water."
