Sometimes it seems racism goes a step further into what might be called neo-tribalism. There are people out there in America – you may have run into them – who are tediously prejudiced against just anyone and anything that does not fit into their vision of how the world should be.
Ultimately, the fundamental delusion at work is the “self-other” construct. Modern science has now followed in the steps of Oriental spiritualism to discover, and substantially prove, that (a) we’re all constructed from the same “stuff,” and (b) we can all exist as we do, because everything else exists just as it does – that’s called “dependent origination” in the Mahayana schools.
Racism, neo-tribalism, etc., are rooted in the “self-other” delusion and invariably cause suffering for everyone.
It’s astonishing that people burdened with this delusion, like Rush Limbaugh, are earning millions of dollars every year to perpetuate it in the media. That will cease when enough people have come to understand the construct is in fact a delusion.

Maybe the newspapers, like the New York Times, should have pointed this out many years ago, and maybe if they had, they would not be dying…
Instead, what you find is an example like the Tuscaloosa News, a New York Times property, where instead of trying to educate readers about these things, they hire a conservative columnist to try to boost circulation from more of the same conservative dogma.
Don’t they know it won’t work? Rush Limbaugh has already made conservatives stop reading newspapers because they are “liberal,” and the racists know to vote for the Republican Party, where what’s left of the racists reside…

It is sad, isn’t it, that the corporate liberal elite answer to declining readership is to hire front people from the corporate conserative elite.
But wait, except for one word, those two terms are the same.
Hmmm….
