Six months in office, President Barack Obama sought to rally support for sweeping health care legislation Wednesday night and vowed to reject any measure “primarily funded through taxing middle class families.” At a prime-time news conference, Obama defended his decision to set a mid-summer deadline for the House and Senate to act, even if it isn’t met.

We don’t care if the exact deadline is met. That’s not the point, national press corps. As long as we get the benefits and savings from national health care reform soon, it will be a historic achievement.

Republicans (and Democrats) who oppose this will most likely lose in the next election cycle. There’s no political hay to be made from this. Not only do the vast majority of Americans want this, Obama has managed to bring onboard the pharmaceutical giants to the tune of $80 billion, many health insurance companies, associations of doctors and nurses who tend to be Republican, as well as the freaking AARP.

We need this and we need it now! Obstructionists — get out of the way!

It is not just critical to give every American health care insurance of some kind, it is critical for the overall economy that we get this done!

Why the rush?

The president acted unsure of himself last night. I think he is getting beat down by a bunch of Southern Redneck democrats.
