Artur Davis Wants Your Ideas?

July 1st, 2009

If so, then why did he reject the number one idea proposed by the most citizens of Alabama, legalizing marijuana?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

If you haven’t visited our favorite Libertarian blogger in awhile, Loretta Nall, click here now! She’s exposing a major loophole in the campaign of Artur Davis who says he is running for governor of Alabama to make change.

Somehow we don’t think continuing to let Alabama Power make environmental policy in Alabama is much of a change. We don’t think allowing ATnT to continue cooperating with the NSA in spying on innocent American citizens makes for change. And we don’t think ignoring a large block of Alabama’s progressive voters is much change from the politics of the past in this state.

What power brokers is Davis talking about who he blames for criticism of him in this election so far? Certainly he is not talking about his and Karl Rove’s buddy Bill Canary over at the conservative Business Council of Alabama, where they fight tooth and nail for the status quo. Is he talking about Paul Hubbert and/or Joe Reed at AEA? The trial lawyers? I mean hey, Artur, why don’t you just come out and say it?

And here’s a note to The Birmingham News

which we assume will wholeheartedly endorse Davis in the Democratic primary and then promptly stab him in the back in the general election. Did you know Davis is using your reporters who have joined his Facebook cause in his Facebook ads — as supporters of his campaign?

Now in any other state in the union, that would be the subject of a major media ethics controversy. But not in Alabamaland, where there’s no such thing as media criticism and the Newhouse press owns most of the presses.

They even managed to ignore the criticism of them and the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. at the National Press Club. I mean, what gives? Not one word about it in the paper? On the al.com Website?

What, do you guys think if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, it didn’t make a sound? Or, since you are killing all the trees, maybe you think it doesn’t make a sound just because it wasn’t printed on ink and paper?

A majority of Alabamians may still not be online, but more and more every day are beginning to realize they’ve been hoodwinked by your paternalism for way too many years. Get on with the truth-telling program, or get out of the fucking way…

    Amen Glynn!

  2. Rowland Scherman Says:

Hey. Is this guy Arthur Davis fun to have a beer with?

That seems to be the benchmark qualification for Americans who want to do their civic, democratic duty–and vote for the candidate of their choice.

If Arthur Davis, whoever he is (I live on Cape Cod these days and no one up here has ever heard of the dude), has any connection with the serially truant Karl Rove, then be warned: a vote for this man is a vote for whatever big business wants. Sort of like Bush/Cheney. And we all know how that turned out.

By the way, when is Karl Rove going to answer his Congressional subpoena?

  3. Glynn Wilson Says:

    No.

    That’s the point.

    We are still waiting…

  4. Yana Davis Says:

In the Stargate SG-1 television series, we discovered that the Gwaould are an ancient, high-tech group of interplanetary thugs who dress like the ancient Egyptians, and run around the galaxy oppressing folks with very advanced weaponry, etc.

Gwaould spaceships look like pyramids and their warlords have names like Anubis, etc.

The Gwaould visited Earth 5000 years ago and the ancient Egyptians worshipped them as gods and copied their structures, clothing and names without figuring out the technology part. In fact, the ancient Egyptians mimicked the Gwaould in a number of ways, but only in form, minus any substance.

In a very similar way, Artur Davis seems to be copying the form of successful campaigns, notably the Obama campaign, while not actually providing any substance. As Glynn observes, why bother to find out a majority of voters want a particular policy and then ignore the finding?

Davis is building a very impressive looking pyramid. But so far, that high-tech engine to fly into space hasn’t been installed.
