There was a play based on the Scopes trial called "Inherit the Wind," which may have been made into a movie as well. As I remember, the names of the characters were changed, but it was more than obvious who they were. We studied that play in one of my high school English classes to the great consternation and dispair of the fundamentalist students, who realized about halfway through that their position was not being portrayed favorably. And yes, that high school was right here in Birmingham - Phillips.
