Though there wasn't a single "flock" of monarchs to be seen like those of my childhood, did see a good many singles, a few pairs. Remarkable how they appeared from exactly the same spot above pasture fence, began climbing to pass over a young cedar at the same distance from it, and disappeared from sight between the same loblolly and post oak as the one before and the one to follow.
