WASHINGTON, D.C. — We just got in from standing in line all day to get tickets for tomorrow. What a pain!
I have never seen such crowds and traffic. The Metro is a flying nightmare and it’s just a fraction today of what it will be tomorrow, but people are just so happy to be here that everyone is very nice and kind.
Jeff and I caught a ride in an electric car today. We LOVED IT.
Governor Siegelman, Jeff and I are going to the Netroots Nation Ball tonight. We’ll be catching up with friends from all over the country that we met in Austin last summer.
More later…
Washington officials expect a turnout of between 2 million and 4 million people in the District of Columbia for the historic inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States. There is little doubt this is the biggest crowd to ever descend on the nation’s capital.
I’ve seen a half a million people on The Mall before, which is about the number that showed up last night for the special event at the Lincoln Memorial.
