The chickens are coming home to roost. My publisher kept saying they couldn't afford salaries while buying up apartment complexes. His main profitability scheme was hire new grads and fire them after there car was used up and they couldn't afford a new one. Some business model. I was happy to see those 40 percent profitability numbers come down. It might suck for democracy but it is just rewards for treating readers and employees like morons to victimize.

This just in from Atlanta.

The newspaper industry is the milk man of the 21st century. (Do you remember the “milk man” delivering milk to homes during the early 1960’s?) Newspapers are going to become like eight track tapes or shoe cobblers. The profession is dead.

A friend told me last night that the Atlanta Journal Constitution will announce layoffs and buyouts at the end of the week. (This guy is expecting to be laid off after 22 years service.) It’s terrible.

Thanks for the news. I’ll talk with you soon...
