I knew Spider well back in the 1980's, but life got busy and I lost contact with him. Ironically, I live only a few miles from Blount Springs. I wish I had known. I can't think of very many things I would rather do than spend an afternoon visiting with him.

Thanks for the glimpse into his later years. It doesn't sound like he changed much - and that is a good thing. I don't think I ever met anyone quite like Spider and probably never will. His spirit, wit, and character live on in my memory.

Rest In Peace Spider.

Glynn,

Thank you for writing that beautiful piece on Spider Martin. He was a great man. I have shared it with Dad, and he plans to read it soon. Thank you for sharing with us.

Don't forget to watch John Adams tonight. The futon bed is in the van, the canoe is on top, and the camera battery is charging.

Life is like a long party. The trick is to keep one long buzz going, but always with an even keel.

Wilson's Law: The social equivalent of Newton's third law of motion - For every high, there is an equal and opposite low.
