I would be skeptical if I were you. I've been covering these things for 25 years as a journalist. Normally, the people get screwed. It's the government that should be watching out for you, but they don't either under corporate capitalism.

Many of us from the hills and valleys of rural America are flattered when big corporations say they want to put a polluting facility near us. We are told to not worry. They will "take care of us." Do you believe that? I write about this at http://peoplepowergranny.blogspot.com today. Vote in my poll and let me know if this is something that corporations are doing or should do.

A stupid thought, but a thought nevertheless, I guess. Computers use a lot less power than other things, like the appliances that keep your food fresh and cook them. Maybe you should stop eating...

< : )

And it is certainly cheaper and uses less energy to publish a news site online than it does to print and deliver that corporate, chain newspaper you read every day for the PR that passes for news.

Just another thought...

A great way to really give the evil Alabama Power Company a sucker punch is to reduce your electricity consumption, i.e. turn off your computer instead of using it to lament the nefarious process which powers it. Just a thought.
