Barack Obama bested Hillary Clinton in the South Carolina primary Saturday night, regaining campaign momentum, according to the Associated Press at least in what the wire service called a “prelude to a Feb. 5 coast-to-coast competition for more than 1,600 Democratic National Convention delegates.”
John Edwards finished a distant third, a sharp setback in the state where he was born and scored a primary victory in his first presidential campaign four years ago. Even so, he vowed to remain in the race, his goal, he said, to “give voice to all those whose voices aren’t being heard.”

With 99 percent of the precincts reporting, Obama had 295,091 votes, 55 percent, to Clinton’s 141,128 votes, or 27 percent, while Edwards only received 93,552 votes, or 18 percent, according to the Washington Post.

Not a lot of analysis is needed to recognize there is a disconnect between what is aired and what is reality with respect to John Edwards. He, his supporters and the meat of his message are experiencing a nearly complete rejection by those covering current events for the People on the air waves that belong to the People.
It may be quite possible for mainstream media, NPR, etc. to ignore this current event, but Democracy NOW! should cover it. Bill Moyers should cover it.
The current event that is surrounding the Edwards campaign is as real as it can be. The horserace infotainment information is about the only thing available to those who may be a bit more complacent than you or me.
We know how important this election is. We know we need a Democratic White House. But we need a President who truly is committed to turning the pyramid upright.
Our economy will never be fixed and working correctly for the American PEOPLE until control of our air waves and control of our government is returned to the People.
This progressive voice reaches far and wide. It fills every state in this Union. But we have to all speak together to make it resonate to those who are a little more complacent than we are and don’t want to give this problem the attention it needs.
We need Democracy NOW! to raise this issue. At least Public radio airs the program in some places and it is on Free Speech TV and LINK TV. Many people have access to it, besides online.
Also perhaps we could request en masse that the stations that cover the Presidential Primary process do so in a fair and balanced manner by insisting for more coverage of the issues.
The issues can be discussed with representatives for these candidates so that there could be many debates to pick apart the Plans for the Country for each of them. This kind of thing, with out the contrived questioning by the Game show host/Moderator.
If Progressives could come together and bring something to the table that could make this happen, I think it could weed out a whole lot of what is really just BS.
The process is so compromised and contrived. The talking heads get rich, the corporations stay in power and we are not given the information we need to make an informed decision. We have to go with our ideals, match them with who is best between Obama and Clinton and hope for the best. While all along there is Edwards with everything we need to get the job done, and he is rejected by the media, not by Americans, by the media.
The People need to see that first we need to cut off the greed. There is nothing left to feed off of because the government is going to focus on Renovation and Rebuilding of the American Landscape. It’s going to return jobs and opportunities to the people who inhabit these lands called America The Beautiful.
This will never happen as long as we give clearance to corporations who work the systems that run our government.
Profits for corporations have taken precedent over the People’s rights to put their money into systems where everyday life works best for the most people.
It needs to be known if Barak Obama can truly stand up to the corporations that control our leaders in Congress. That’s a tough job. I don’t think he or Hillary Clinton can do it or will do it. But we know John Edwards will.
So these are our air waves. Let’s not just tell them what we think, let’s give them suggestions as to how to fix the problem with their methods of covering this process.
