<description>You are on Ivan! Luckily, Yuengling beer, from America's oldest brewery, is selling in the grocery stores around here for only $7.99 a 12-pack : )

I was about to say that if this presidential race comes down to Hillary vs. Giuliani, I'm giving up on covering American politics and moving somewhere else to finish out my days watching birds.

My plan of late has been to find the perfect box van, a cool form of RV, and travel the country from New Orleans to New York as the weather turns and as the story flies.

But maybe I should make that a boat instead, so I can slip away to Mexico or Costa Rica or even Cuba when the shit goes down here.

See Paul Krugman's column again today for more on the corporate dumbocrats: &lt;a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/19/opinion/19krugman.html?ref=opinion&#38;#38;pagewanted=print" rel="nofollow"&gt;Death of the Machine&lt;/a&gt;.

Notice I've started linking to the New York Times again, since they finally figured out I was right about how bad an idea it was to charge for their editorial content. Times Select is history. I told them it would cost them millions of readers and millions in Web advertising revenue two years ago when they proposed doing it. Now they have stopped, with no fanfare.

Now if I could just convince The Nation that they need to consider some alternative writing styles so they can get readers south of the Staten Island Bridge, we might turn this country around after all. But I'm not holding my breath...</description>
