February 2nd, 2007Much as he did before the Iraq invasion, President George W. Bush is limiting the debate about war with Iran, offering assurances that he considers war “a last resort” even as he moves military forces into place.
Similarly, the Democrats and the national press corps are behaving mostly as either passive observers or willing enablers. There have been remarkably few front-page stories about the consequences if Bush gives the order nor lively debates on TV news about possible peaceful alternatives.
