| Sometime in the past century, what the local people call “wild green parrots” from South America, smuggled in as pets, escaped, bred and thrived in New Orleans. They make large nests in the native and non-native palm trees by chopping off limbs and flying with the sticks in their beaks. It is fascinating to watch them perform this airborne balancing act. And it was good to see at least some of them survived Hurricane Katrina. I caught this one working on its nest in a palm tree on Carrolton Avenue in the Old Carrollton neighborhood near River Bend. Bob Sargent says it looks to him like a Monk Parakeet, which seems likely. Here’s a Gambit Weekly story about the invasion of the myiopsitta monachus. |

The Washington press corps is already reporting George W. Bush’s spin on the war in Iraq as they try to pound the president with questions in a press conference being broadcast on cable news. This is the kind of crap we never publish on the Locust Fork News page, because Bush so rarely tells the truth. We think Bush needs to get back on the meds. Maybe then he will do the right thing and just resign the office – and take Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld with him.
Bush Doesn’t Believe Iraq Is in Civil War
Maybe he is just becoming increasingly desperate, considering the polls showing the American people finally waking up to his BS.
Bush Approval Falls To 33 Percent
“People desire to be free,” Bush likes to say, over and over again, while taking our freedom away in the US of A. We say people are growing more and more desirous, to use another Bushism, to be free of the Bush regime.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. All the activists who marched for peace in cities across the country this weekend should all get together and raise more than a million people to go to Washington, then surround the White House and refuse to leave and chant: “Hey, hey, ho, ho, Bush has got to go.”
They should have the attitute: “We ain’t leaving until Bush is gone.” He is a fucking disgrace to the office of the presidency.
