Indians Protest Bush Visit: Where Are the American Protesters?

March 1st, 2006

Tens of thousands of Indians waving black and white flags and chanting “Death to Bush!” and “Bully Bush, Go Home!” rallied Wednesday in New Delhi to protest a visit by President Bush. As many as 100,000 people gathered in a fairground in central New Delhi ordinarily used for political rallies, according to the Associated Press.

What we’re wondering is, if the Indian people can raise that many protesters for a brief Bush visit, why in the hell can’t the activists in the United States turn out a similar number to protest the bastard here? The Indians don’t have to live under his regime day in and day out. We do.

If you are not pissed off enough yet, wake up and smell the coffee - and get pissed off. It is imperative that the American people get off the damn couch and go to work to help the Democratic Party take over Congress in the 2006 elections, now less than nine months away. Even if you are a disgruntled conservative Republican, a libertarian independent or sympathetic to the Green Party, the only way to get rid of Bush is for the Democrats in Congress to impeach him.

Let’s face facts. Can America survive three more years of Bush? Why would we want to when the mechanism is in place to oust the SOB?

Some of my more conservative and neutral friends have recently asked me why I am so anti-George Bush. It’s not just a biased liberal Democrat point of view. He is responsible for screwing up my life, the country I love and the world we live in so many ways that have been documented over and over again over the past few months. In other words, it is personal.

We suspect the politicians and the press in this country would go after Bush more if they heard more from working people who oppose Bush’s policies. But the left in this country seems disengaged from politics and reality. Maybe everyone is just afraid of the NSA and Bush’s domestic spying program and scared to show opposition publicly. Sorry, but that is the only way to change things.

Just look at the Indians. They are not afraid. If this is the greatest Democracy in the whole damn world, why are Americans so afraid of protesting? We’ve fought tough wars to get where we are. We can’t stop now and let the Bush-GOP oil cabal monarchy completely take over.

All I can do is blog about it. All the press can do is write about it. Government of the people is up to THE PEOPLE!

Perhaps it is overly optimistic of me, but I believe the voters will stand up and be heard with a loud voice this fall and again in two years. The Union has withstood flawed Presidents and corrupt administrations before and will do so again. Most administrations wear out their welcome long before it is time to exit. Impeachment ?…it’s a long shot in my opinion unless strong “smoking gun” evidences emerges. People have to feel outraged and/or feel a personal kick in the gut before they take to the streets in protest. Apparently this is not felt in large enough numbers at this time.

Smoking guns are laying out in the open all over the place. Today, we saw the video that Bush was warned New Orleans would flood BEFORE Katrina hit, a direct contradiction of what he said in speeches for the past six months. Lie. Coverup.

The Downing Street Memo and other evidence shows the plan for the Iraq War was in place BEFORE 9/11, and the intel was cooked up to publicly justify it, in direct contradiction to numerous statements by the president on the issue.

Can you say Dubai port deal? The evidence will come out about all the financial ties.

Jack Abramoff? We’re not done with him yet either.

Then there’s all the torture and on and on…

I say we can’t stop until we put the bastards behind bars. If the press would go after Bush with the vengeance they went after Richard Scrushy, it might make a difference.

As for not being felt by large numbers, I just don’t buy it. A lot of people are hurting. Certainly the 250,000 displaced by Katrina, the 46 million now without health insurance, anyone working for minimum wage.

Things look pretty normal I suppose in the nicer suburbs around town, and places like Mountain Brook.

Headout to any apartment complex on the not so ritzy parts of town, and not just here. Every state in the union now has what looks like a permament underclass with little chance to advancement.

Bush is not part of the solution. He is a big part of the problem…

Why are we going to share nuclear technology with a country like india? This is not one of our allies, India has not signed the non-proliferation treaty and under the terms of this agreement will allow only partial inspections of their nuclear facilities. As I understand it, inspections will not be allowed at their military nuclear plants. If this is true, why in hell would we want to give them any aid at all? What could motivate the U.S. to make a deal like this? hmm… I wish george would come by where I work and buy a car. He seems to be an easy mark for a good salesman.

Good question, Dr. Coty. The only thing we can figure is, Bush needs friends in the world. Most people hate him, here and abroad. But it doesn’t make a lot of sense, considering India’s stance across the nuclear border with Pakistan, where Bush’s old friend Osama is still hiding.

But as we all know by now, Bush just ain’t that damn smart. And in every move Bush makes, there’s a backstory that involves one of his friends and political supporters making a lot of money. As they say, follow the money.

American Nuke companies are going to make a lot of green on this deal. But as usual, we won’t find out the truth for months, when some blogger stumbles onto the real reason and the press then finally pickes it up…

Why is Bush always preaching democracy to the world when he doesn’t practice it at home?
The very first rule of “democracy” is that the majority rules. If that were true Al Gore would have been elected in 2000. Since the “Constitution of the United States” is just a G.. D… piece of paper, never mind that he swore to uphold it, this Administration has no problem suspending due process, Federal Laws or anything else that doesn’t suit their agenda. Especially if it concerns the “oil business” or some other good old boy corporate entity.
