Red Alert: Busheviks Scrubbing Roberts’ Files

August 10th, 2005

In late night from Bob Fertik at Democrats.com:

Red Alert! The Busheviks are scrubbing John Roberts’ files.

Just read between the lines in this Pentagon Post article:

Thrown on the defensive by recent revelations about Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts Jr.’s legal work, White House aides are delaying the release of tens of thousands of documents from the Reagan administration to give themselves time to find any new surprises before they are turned into political ammunition by Democrats…

White House aides are exerting full control over the documents still under their authority. Under an executive order signed by Bush in 2001, the White House has the right to review, and in some cases block, the release of presidential papers from previous administrations. White House lawyers have been dispatched to the Reagan library in Simi Valley, Calif., where they are combing through documents that have not been released.

This is not a stonewall, as Armando claims on Kos. When will Democrats - and progressive bloggers like - wake up to the fact that the Busheviks always scrub incriminating documents from the files?

Didn’t anyone learn this crucial lesson from the AWOL story - that Karen Hughes in 1997 removed all of the Texas Air National Guard documents that proved Bush was AWOL? Bill Burkett watched TANG officials throw the documents in the trash - and he was telling the truth.

They did the same thing in Plamegate, when Alberto Gonzales gave White House officials 67 days to scrub incriminating documents.

Now they are scrubbing Roberts’ file to make sure Democrats don’t get their hands on any documents that expose Roberts’ real thoughts.

Democrats and journalists should immediately file FOIA requests for all of Roberts’ files. They should also send letters to the National Archives with detailed questions about how they will protect all of Roberts’ files from unauthorized scrubbing.

What about Sandy Berger “scrubbing” classified documents during the 9/11 investigations? Both parties do it but that certainly doesn’t make it right. What we have is two very crooked parties who enact very similar policies while in power to maintain that power. Though the rhetoric is often vastly different, the difference in their actions are only marginal. The Bush administration is the target now, but do you honestly think it will be any different when a Democratic administration takes over? What was the last administration that you would consider honest and forthright? I can’t think of one in my short lifetime.

Nevertheless, I am still optimistic that the liberal heritage and economic strength of this country will continue to persivere regardless of which serpent is in power. History shows the American people are strong and proud, if not flawed.

    Cheers.

You may be right about both parties and many of those in power. But I would argue that there is a drastic difference in the direction we take as a country under Bush v. ANY DEMOCRAT right now.

On the environment, science verses religion, the Supreme Court, energy policy, economic policy and more would be different, especially for the working people, the working poor. The bastards truly just don’t care about you, DT, no matter how well they spin it.

GW, frankly I am disgusted how both parties want to take away our freedoms to secure their power. The hard left would take our freedoms of speech to promote “multiculturalism” and PC bullshit (just look at speech codes at public universities), the right to bear arms, private property rights, etc. The hard right would ignore our protection from searches and seizures in the name of “security”, tear down the wall between church and state, expand victimless crimes, etc. My primary argument is that neither party is morally superior. We need a “Freedom Party” in this country to protect us from all these bastards. Because the Democrats don’t care about us either.

IM, I shouldn’t even respond to you but here goes. Don’t argue in stupid cliches. Clinton has blood on his hands as well. He lobbed cruise missles into Baghdad and fought a war in Kosovo. When he couldn’t keep his zipper up, his political authority became impotent. Every action was seen through the PR prism of deflecting attention from the scandal. He was unable to pay proper attention and take action against the increasing terrorist activities and gathering threats at the end of his term. He may not have screwed Monica but he screwed this country. And I voted for him twice.

    IM,
Chill dude. I am just adding my thoughts and trying to stimulate discussion on a blog I enjoy reading. It’s kind of boring to just kiss Glynn’s ass and say “I agree. Great post!” everytime. I don’t believe in seeing the world in black and white or left and right. And I don’t trust politicians. Your original posts were snide and insulting so I responded. I have no agenda other than supporting those who want protect and expand individual freedoms in this country. If you do, great, by all means pursue it with all your energies. But don’t expect everyone to agree with everything you say.

I offer you an olive branch and hope that the next time I post something disagreeable we can argue rationally.

Liberals being nice to one another again…not. Since I am a Hugo Black absolutist on free speech, press and the separation of church and state, since this is not a family newspaper and I have no real time or desire to play moderator, I will not censor comments for obscenity or in the event of a fight.

I would insert a humble caution, however, and remind everyone of what Norman Maclean write in his book A River Runs Through It.

“All good things - trout as well as eternal salvation - come by grace and grace comes by art and art does not come easy.”

We know the feeling and on some days, grace is not only not easy, it is downright impossible, especially when faced with the evil in the world that passes for godliness.

Fight away if you wish, but like my old little league coach PeeWee used to say, “Keep your eye on the ball.”

I am trying to keep my eye on the ball of finding out the truth behind our problems and focusing the laser on the right cancer - the one in the White House.

You don’t have to be a Democrat or a liberal to see that George W. Bush has made a complete mess of things and may be the worst president in our history - in our time right now today.

Forget history. There may be no future, unless you live in an oil money bubble on Air Force One with your own army.

No one except those 80 people in Waco, a half-dozen at the WTC in 1993, and thousands in Bosnia and Kosovo, among others. People, do not excuse Democrat wars just because you want to give them big ol’ kisses!

Thanks for the comment, Vince, but fast2write didn’t say it. I.M. Stranger did.
