Showdown On Bush Judicial Nominees
April 21st, 2005As I pack the van and get ready to cowboy on cruise control to the Mullet Toss at the Flora-Bama Roadhouse Lounge, it looks like a rootin’ tootin’ shootout in the U.S. Senate over Bush’s radical right judicial nominees.
No president has tried to pack the court with party and idealogical loyalists like this since F.D.R. tried to expand the number of Supreme Court nominees in the 1930s. The good thing is, we got Hugo Black of Alabama on the court then. What will come of this fight?
We’ll pick up the thread Saturday night from New Orleans.
